Prestatyn Tourist Information

A popular Victorian resort town in the 19th and 20th Centuries, Prestatyn is at the eastern end of the Green Links area.

The town is still popular with holiday makers and offers good transport links by road and rail, being situated on the North Wales Coast Line between Chester and Holyhead.

It is also an important walking town; with Walkers are Welcome status and an annual walking festival each May.

The area has a wide and varied walking offer to cater for all abilities and preferences.

For long distance walkers, the Promenade marks the end (or start, depending which way you walk) of the 177 mile Offa's Dyke Path National Trail, and at this point meets the 870 mile Wales Coast Path, where the wide, surfaced Promenade makes an excellent route to Rhyl and further west, great for walks and wheels alike!

However, if long distance isn't your thing, there are lots of shorter local routes, which take in the best the town and the surrounding area has to offer.

We have provided a few suggestions in our suggested walks section.

If you prefer to cycle, the town is situated on the epic 372 mile National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 5 from Reading to Holyhead, and offers traffic-free cycling to Abergele.

Shorter cycling options, such as the Prestatyn Dyserth Way are available.

For these and more route ideas, check out our suggested rides section.

The area has a diverse range of nature reserves including the highly protected Gronant Dunes with its internationally important Little Tern colony.

The Prestatyn Dyserth Way provides an excellent walking and cycling route and a gateway into the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and wide views of the area can be gained from Coed Bell, Bishops Wood and Prestatyn Hillside
