Beaches in North Wales

Looking for the best beaches in North Wales?

Fantastic beaches are something that North Wales has by the bucket (and spade) load.

The Green Links area covers Llandudno in the West to Prestatyn in the East including the popular seaside resorts of Colwyn Bay, Pensarn and Rhyl.

Beaches in North Wales have convenient facilities nearby including cafes, shops and toilets many areas even have showers so you don’t have to take the beach with you when you leave.

Come and see what all the fuss is about.

The North Wales coast was developed as a seaside beach resort by the Victorians.

Developments on the rail network and ferries from Liverpool allowed more people to escape the city and enjoy the sand, sun and sea of the area.

Many of the towns along the Welsh coast have kept their Victorian charm as shown by the elegant promenade at Llandudno with postcard hotel fronts.

Queen of Welsh Resorts

Tourists still flock to enjoy the beaches in North Wales today as the local area has seen significant investment including Colwyn Bay’s new promenade and sandy beaches, Rhyl Harbours new look and feel with cafe and bike shop as well as Llandudno’s modern cable cars, ski slopes and theatre.

Sun, Sea, Sand and Nature

As well as the usual you would expect from a beach holiday such as a higher than average amount of sun as well as plenty of long clean sandy beaches, North Wales has something else up its sleeve.

The Green Links area offers a number of key beaches within Local Nature Reserves.

This means you can enjoy the beautiful outdoors surrounded by nature including the little tern colony at Gronant Dunes, the regular appearance of seals at Kinmel Dunes and the rare plants at Pensarn.
